As far as avian analogies go, not one sparrow isn't quite 'hatchling' anymore, but 'fledgling' might still be appropriate! Here's some information about how we came to be, and a basic introduction to our website and community:

not one sparrow was launched in May, 2008 to help the Christian community honor its calling to be faithful stewards of God's creatures. We know animal welfare and advocacy issues often seem off the map, even invalid or extreme, to many in our home communities of faith. But sadly, as a result, we've largely abandoned our God-given responsibilities to the animal kingdom.
Ben DeVries, not one sparrow's founder, faced similar reservations when animal concerns began to tug on his own heart a few years back. Ben wrote his seminary MA project on a biblically faithful foundation for animal welfare to address some of those questions, and to lay the groundwork for not one sparrow. As part of the evangelical tradition, he wanted especially to help his own community and other brothers and sisters in Christ better understand and get involved in causes of animal appreciation and caretaking.
