Wake Up Weekend 2010

I'm honored to be involved again in this year's Wake Up Weekend on animals, awareness and advocacy in Grand Rapids, January 22-23.  I'll be presenting not one sparrow's mission and work on Friday at Calvin College between 2:30 and 5:00, participating in a panel discussion on encouraging compassionate eating in our communities on Saturday from 3:30-5:00 at Calvin's downtown art gallery, and generally representin' NOS throughout the weekend.  If you're in the area, I very much hope to bump into you!  I really appreciated the entire weekend last year, and the friendships made.

For more on the Weekend and its unique history, please see Calvin's "January's Wakeup Call."  A full schedule and details are available at Grand Rapids community group G-Rad.  As you can see, the weekend is chock-full of all kinds of events, and includes many distinguished animal and compassionate food advocates.  For more on last January's Wake Up Weekend, please see our review "What a Weekend!"  Video of both my presentations from last year is also available ("Not One Sparrow Presented" and "Reading from my Paper").

Many thanks again to my friend and Calvin philosophy professor Matt Halteman (author of the excellent (and free download) "Compassionate Eating as Care of Creation"), Calvin Students for Compassionate Living and G-Rad/extraVEGANza! for graciously inviting me back on behalf of not one sparrow

I checked out the full schedule for the "Wake Up Weekend." It looks very interesting--with fabulous food! Have a great time, Ben. We'll be anxious to hear how it goes.

Thanks mom, it should be a great time, and the food is always exceptional. I especially love the chili cook-off at the end. Cheryl sent along a great contribution with me last year, white-faux-chicken chili ... Ben
