the shoplifting seagull
I'm not sure how well chili Doritos sit in a bird's system, but one hungry seagull with a taste for heat apparently can't get enough of them. According to Stuart Patterson of Mail Online, a Scottish seagull dubbed 'Sam' gets his fix from one particular corner shop, where the same Doritos are always just inside the door and within easy reach:
According to a shopkeeper, "For some reason he only takes that one particular kind, nothing else will do for him. He's got it down to a fine art. He waits until there are no customers around and I'm standing behind the till, then he raids the place."
But Sam is no Bernie Madoff. He seems to draw his thieving inspiration from the British legend of Robin Hood. Once he's captured his daily treasure, he brings the packet to other gulls and pigeons to help him tear it open. Then, in the tradition of robbing the rich to give to the poor, Sam shares the chips with them. According to Patterson, "They all feast and then disappear, before returning the next day."

Amazing, Ben! Douglas Craig would get a kick out of this :).
I bet he would :) - Ben
When we were on our honeymoon in Banff Canada, there was a sneaky squirrel who would run in behind customers going into the restaurant/store and grab candy bars off of the rack and race back out before the door could close....:)
That's hilarious! So the phenomenon isn't limited to Scottish seagulls :) Thanks for sharing - Ben
