two cents worth, thank you

thank you... Your response to our request for help in the last eletter was one of the most encouraging, energizing and humbling moments I've had working on not one sparrow. Thank you, many times over, for your sensitivity and response to the need. It means the world to me, and to keeping not one sparrow afloat. Recent weeks have been more dry, and we very much need your continued support each month. But I am so grateful for your compassion and generosity to this point - thank you.
what sound does a sparrow make?... As one of our Facebook friends mentioned, it's appropriate for not one sparrow to be tweeting. So, I'm (mostly) glad to pass along that we finally have our own Twitter profile. And if you're connected to us on Facebook, are you getting not one sparrow's feed? If not, and you would like to, you may need to increase your friends' streams and/or add us as a favorite on your homepage (see "edit options" at the very bottom). I'd also like to mention that we changed the color pattern of our website, prompted by another brilliant banner by my brother Joshua DeVries, and added a brand new homepage slideshow featuring several baby animals in honor of Spring. A big thanks to everyone who contributed photos.

on the weblog... Lauren Meritt's "Like a Child" and an update on our 'mascot' Spoggy helped close a series on wild birds. We reviewed Matthew Scully's powerful book Dominion with Sarah Cunningham, and then looked at compassionate eating with LaVonne Neff's "Hey, That's Personal?", Nancy Janisch's "Pain-Free Animals?" and reflections on Phillip Keller's A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23. Our most recent posts included Rosie Andre's informative "Animal Hoarding" and moving pet memories from Cindy Crosby in "A Collie Named Max" and Ginni Ham's "Antifreeze, Tragedy and a Girl's Mission." We'll be looking at the themes of creation and creatures' groaning, and redemption, in the coming weeks as Good Friday and Easter approach.
roll credits... A big thanks for recent mentions to Abby Garner and the World Society for the Protection of Animals, Amy Sondova and Backseat Writer, Cindy Crosby, Francine Marie Tolf, Hayley Jane Merchant and The Vegan Christian, John Laukkanen and Ahavafriend, Annie Smolinski and Chad Richmond of Veg West Michigan, Scott Williams and Creation Hope, William Kruidenier, and to Christine Gutleben and Karen Allanach at Humane Society's Faith Outreach for graciously featuring not one sparrow's Companion Animal Suffering & Grief Support group in a recent edition of The Humane Steward.
Our next "two cents worth" will go out just before our second anniversary, when we'll look more at this past year and what might be ahead for not one sparrow. Thank you, always, for the indispensable role you've played in our community.
Grace and peace to you in the meantime, and a most meaningful Easter,
Ben DeVries, not one sparrow

Keep up the good work Ben! Not One Sparrow is doing very valuable work. I have been fascinated by what you are doing here. It really calls me to examine my own life, what I eat/ support, etc. Thanks. May God bless your work in the coming months.
Thanks so much for the affirmation and feedback, Scott, it means a lot to me. Really glad to see what you're doing with Creation Hope as well - Ben
