upcoming events...
April 8-9 / Creation Care Summit / Hubertus, WI
Ben can't wait to represent not one sparrow at an inaugural Creation Care Summit at YMCA Camp Minikani in Hubertus, Wisconsin (outside of Milwaukee), graciously organized by Allyson Green. Ben will be introducing the short film "Eating Mercifully" on Friday evening, and speaking the following morning on "Why Creation Care Needs Creature Care."
Other speakers include Ed Brown of the environmental missions organization Care of Creation and Gretchen Peck of Renewal (Students Caring for Creation), and there will be several breakout sessions and practical workshops on environmental care, along with a dinner featuring local food! Please see this flier for more details and registration information.
recent highlights...
March 10-12 / Wake Up Weekend / Grand Rapids, MI
Ben was grateful to represent not one sparrow for a third time at Wake Up Weekend 2011 (see 2009 and 2010 recaps), an awesome grassroots conference on animals, food and faith put on by good friends at Calvin College. This year, Ben spoke on "Why Creation Care Needs Creature Care," after a phenomenal Brick Road Pizza Co. vegan brunch.
March 13 / Grace Missionary Church / Zion, IL
Ben was honored to speak at his home church, where he serves as building custodian, on being "Custodians of God's Creatures." He introduced his work with not one sparrow and the basics of our Christian calling to care for animals, and Ben's wife Cheryl hosted a related, fun program for kids.
previous events
In addition to being a regular participant at Wake Up Weekend and the other events mentioned above, Ben has appreciated the opportunity to present on a Christian foundation for caring for animals in a college and middle school classroom, and also to participate in an oil spill prayer journey along the Gulf Coast last Summer. Some event highlights have been posted on our blog, including video from two of Ben's earlier presentations (available here and here).

We'd love to look into sharing with other communities you're a part of. Whether creation care or animal advocacy conferences, churches and small groups, campuses and classrooms, or any other opportunities you might be aware of where a Christian perspective on animals would be appreciated, please let Ben know. He's based in the Chicago area, and his ability to get around is largely dependent on the moderate resources needed to do so. But he's definitely grateful to look into any possibilities, and thank you for thinking of us!
